This position reports directly to the Director of Appraisal. The person in this position operates data entry devices under minimum supervision, works directly with the public, enters source data and documents, and verifies inputs. Is responsible for the development of commercial cost and income schedules for valuing commercial-type properties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Perform a variety of field audits of construction and land-use sites
Gather data for assessment purposes, including non-complex and complex residential, multi-family, commercial, and industrial real property
Enter collected data into the agency's database system
Appraise diversified types of real property
Perform field inspections
Perform mathematical computations, including the determination of square footage, percentages, fractions, or decimals using standard formulas
Prepare evidence and defend market value at all levels of appeals
Assist in the analysis of market data and perform research as assigned
Review reports on exceptional value change and gain/loss reports
Answer questions on phone and at the counter regarding real property and direct customers to the appropriate department when needed

Noise: Noisy, distractive work environment
Extreme Cold: Temperature cold enough to cause marked bodily discomfort
Extreme Heat: Temperature hot enough to cause marked bodily discomfort
Education Requirement:
Graduation from high school or possession of a GED Certification
Experience Requirement:
Minimum 5 years of experience in appraising real property and training under higher-level personnel
Required Qualifications:
Data entry proficiency
Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
Excellent letter-writing skills using proper grammar
Experience working with the public
General office experience, including ten-key calculator
In-house training under Supervisor on direct data entry device
Ability to demonstrate obtained knowledge of software programs and information retrieval
Mental alertness to detect and resolve error conditions
Judgment in selecting and transcribing data from documents that have not been pre-examined or coded to assure minimum, verified input on accounts
Ability to work under pressure of rigid cycles of fluctuating production schedules
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Ability to communicate effectively over the telephone and directly with taxpayers
Ability to work harmoniously with fellow employees
Ability to arrive at work on time
Ability to work overtime during certain periods of the year
